Dayna

     Dayna DeLaurentis, 38, is a licensed esthetician and creator and owner of Urban Spa Chic- an upscale spa and beauty boutique in Chicago's trendy River West neighborhood. While in school, Dayna knew early on that one day she wanted to own a spa of her own. She wisely calculated each career move, taking the appropriate steps that would allow her to realize her dream.

After completing aesthetic school in 1998 at the top of her class and receiving her state license, Dayna began her career at a salon on Chicago's north side. There, Dayna began to hone her skills and techniques. She learned how to interact with clients. becoming more attuned to their needs and making them feel comfortable, as she herself became more confident with her style. Dayna then went to work at the popular East Bank Club which provided a more corporate setting where she could learn important business aspects of the beauty and skincare industry. Dayna understood that gaining knowledge on the business side would benefit her down the road. Next, to incorporate a more holistic approach to into her style Dayna worked for Planet Health where the focus was on nutrition, skincare and chiropractic treatments.

     Wishing to further expand her industry knowledge, Dayna then pursued a career within the destination beauty spa field where she held positions at some of Chicago's most prestigious and renowned establishments including The Carlton Club at The Ritz and the Peninsula Hotel Spa. She often found herself catering to Hollywood celebrities and other notables within Chicago society, media and other business.

Dayna gained a wealth of experience and knowledge while working at these esteemed spas, yet she also began to realize that many times the larger commercial spas did not always cater to each client's specific needs. Dayna recognized that each person is unique. They have different skin types, different lifestyles that affect their bodies and beings, and different objectives when visiting a spa. For each person to receive a totally effective and beneficial treatment, all these aspects need to be taken into consideration. Dayna bode her time and continued to learn, all the while knowing that she wanted to create a place where she could put her own very tailored approach into practice.

     To gain yet another perspective, Dayna took a position at a cosmetic surgeon's practice where she was trained and licensed in a variety of medical skincare treatments. She assisted in prepping clients for surgical procedures and performed post-surgery treatments to enhance the effects of those procedures.
Dayna's unwavering passion for the industry and sheer determination to offer an upscale yet comfortable alternative to the average Chicago spa led to the design and subsequent opening of Urban Spa Chic in June 2005. Dayna prides herself on staying true to her vision of making each person's visit to Urban Spa Chic as unique as they are. Therefore, she has instituted what she calls Treatments By Design (TBD). After a brief evaluation of the client's objectives and the state of their skin and overall being- a finely tailored and compatible treatment program is recommended.

     The bright urban loft that houses the spa features clean, sharp furnishings, and the energizing cool mint color contrasted by calming brown tones offer a perfect balance. In addition to creating this unpretentious and most welcoming retreat for customers, Dayna also strives to educate her clientele on the best, most effective beauty regiments and skin products that will enhance and complement their look, lives, styles and schedules.
Dayna has accumulated numerous hours of continued education and in addition to the above mentioned establishments, Dayna's freelance beauty credits include: United Airlines which commissioned Dayna's expertise for the mandatory training of its flight attendants; Crain's Chicago Business- Dayna held makeup sessions for the publication's Top 100 Professional Chicago Women prior to their photo shoot and the WTTW Channel 11- Dayna was the on-set makeup artist for a fund-raising telethon.
